Eva Nove (Steinkohl) of Palm Harbor, who celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 14, 2024, died on December 17, 2024.
A Holocaust survivor, Eva was born in Hungary in 1924. At the age of 19, she was taken to a forced labor camp in her home country and then to camps in Germany. She survived Ravensbrück and was eventually displaced to Romania (Transylvania) where, by a miracle, Eva Nove (Steinkohl) was reunited with her late mother and two brothers. She immigrated to the United States in 1966 and moved to Palm Harbor seven years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Gary Brevoort. She worked in the sweatshop factories in New York, in bakeries, catering, caregiving, and volunteering for Jewish Family Services. Eva was the proud grandmother of Rabbi/Cantor Colman Reaboi, Alicia Reaboi, and the late Heather (Brevoort) Heath and the beloved great-grandmother of Leo Reaboi and Shauna Heath. Eva was the beloved wife of the late Melchior Nove who died in 1992. Eva and her family are very grateful to Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services for their support through its Holocaust survivors' program.
